Conservation detection dogs

Specialist surveys for cryptic, threatened and invasive species

Our services

Wildlife detection and monitoring

At Indago, we specialise in the detection of cryptic and threatened species, with the overarching goals of protection and conservation.

Invasive species detection

Invasive species detection and management

We offer a range of invasive species detection and control methods, including pre-incursion surveys (monitoring ‘invasion fronts’), single species detection and monitoring (‘getting things under control’) and eradication programs.

Study design and data analytics

Robust and scalable study design is a core feature of our detection dog surveys. We empower clients to have an evidence-based understanding of the factors that underpin the presence:absence of a species of interest.

Indago Environmental

Why use dogs?

Less disturbance – superior detection

Dogs are renowned for their amazing sense of smell. From gluten to missing persons, COVID-positive patients to elusive fungi, there is very little that a motivated and well-trained scent detection dog cannot detect.

Conservation dogs are able to:

  • Survey greater areas in shorter timeframes
  • Demonstrate far greater detection capabilities compared to human-only surveys
  • Function as an ‘ecologist’s sixth sense’.

Our dogs are much loved and indispensable members of the team. Indago welcomes enquiries as to how our dogs, field methods and analytical approaches can help you achieve positive environmental outcomes.
